Thursday, May 11, 2006 What a lovely day. I'm beginning to like rainy days alot. Must have been the Penang trip. But I feel a sense of calmness and peace when it rains. When the sky is slightly gloomy and when the air is fresh and cool. And the smell of rain...makes you feel alive. Like everything is fresh and clean.Today was a great day. Woke up at 12 cos I had to pass up my assignment. From the moment I woke up, the weather was showing signs of rain. Usually days like this makes me feel all lazy and gloomy but today was completely different. Maybe it was the book I was reading. Tuesdays with Morrie. A truly inspiring book about extracting the positive out of the negative. A recommended read. Anyway I passed up my assignment and headed to Jusco Kepong's Starbucks to get myself a cup of hot chocolate. The thought of having cup of nice hot choc while reading a great book on a rainy day just seemed so appealing to me today. Usually I don't indulge in things like this. And while I was on my way to Jusco, I was low on petrol and on normal days (today was special XP) I would just scratch the idea and head back home. But no, I drove all the way to the nearest petrol station, pumped in some gas and off I went to Jusco. Such determination. I'm amazed. God knows what a lazy bum I am. But it was all worth it. Made me feel good. Made me feel new. Made me feel like nothing can spoil my day. XD But yeah Tuesdays with Morrie is a very special book. It made me smile and it made me cry. And the story told is so honest and so true. It focuses on the many important things that we take for granted. Things that we know are important but choose to set aside to make way for our hectic lives. It's ironic really how our mind works. How can we actually neglect our family and friends for work? What made us perceive work as something greater than family and friends? And so many great values that we've been thought as a child, why do we still choose to adopt lifestyles that we can't even relate to? Funny how we abuse ourselves without even knowing it. Until it's too late. But this book tells us all that nothing is too late. And that's so comforting. But it doesn't mean that you should wait. We should act now. Start appreciating NOW. Everyone should read this book. The world would be a happier place. The funny thing is Daniel Powter's Bad Day was played on the radio twice today. And I was singing along to it and was feeling great cos my day was great! No bad day for me! *gloats* Alrighty. I'm one contented person today. Let's just hope that I'll get to feel like this more often. :)
