We all know the state of our beloved country. When we read in newspapers that bloggers are getting arrested for speaking their minds, it's pretty obvious what our country has become. Now I know I've never blogged about anything politcal. I've always had a strong opinion about it though I've never felt the urge to blog it. Today I'll make an exception.

It's funny how things change in a span of 5 years. Back then when I thought Barisan National was the best party there is and I would read in the newspaper about their landslide wins during the elections and felt a sense of pride. Back then when there's only Bangsa Malaysia. Back then when I innocently thought my identity as a Malaysian could never be challenged.

Flash forward 5 years later and all has changed. I don't remember particularly when, but one morning I saw the headlines on The Star qouting a Johor minister who said that there is no such thing as Bangsa Malaysia. Well, how dandy, after so many years of thinking I was Malaysian and very much part of this country, there are still some that deny us the right to truly call ourselves Malaysian. That I'm still an orang cina in their eyes. A foreigner in the only country I can call home.

There are many who talk about emigrating and leaving this country for good, only coming back for holidays to visit their loved ones. Many who have given up on pursuing a right to this land we call home. I have to say that I'm guilty of such thoughts. I have told myself after that faithful incident that I will leave this country to one that would offer me greener pastures. I've dreamt of it and it was my only hope for a brighter future.

A year ago, it was all I could hope for. But now, I'm singing a different tune. I do not want to leave this country. I do not want to leave my family. I do not want to leave my friends or them to leave me. And I do not want to leave this place that holds the key to my past and the wonderful memories what came with it.

So many people are fighting for this country. Should I be one to run or to stay and make a difference? I want to stay. I want to try.

So many people have said in forums and chats, what can we do to change the situation we're in? It'll never change and we'll always be ruled by the tyranny and unfairness our government upholds. But we can. We can vote.

It is the only voice we have and yet some of us don't even know it. According to stats there are 5 million unregistered voters in Malaysia. 5 million unheard voices. 5 million voices that may change the destiny of this country.

I believe in a Bangsa Malaysia because it is all I've ever known. It will happen. I want my Bangsa Malaysia.

So people, if you're eligible to vote, go register and make a difference. Spread the news and if you have any friends that are of age, get them to register and vote!

Let our voices be heard for once. Let the true Malaysians speak.

No guesses who I'm going to vote for this coming election. (Think rocket!)

Comments:
Someday, after catching up on endless political readings in Malaysia, a little small voice in my head screams out to me, telling me to always remember that I am a Malaysia and I have to strive to make it a better nation.

But then, some jerk-off makes a totally dumb comment, and my first reaction is, screw the nation, it is going downhill.

I feel like such a sinner now! lol

because you are right, we all have to do something. the nation is going downhill, because we are allowing it to.

Who do you vote for? They all suck!! Have you seen them fighting in parliament? YouTube it. It's so humiliating to think that these people are representing us. Speaking for us. When everything that comes out of their mouth is crap! GRR really naik marah man talking about them..
